Nominations are open for the WA Education Awards 2009.
These prestigious awards acknowledge the contribution of teachers, principals and school support staff working in Western Australian public schools. There are also awards to acknowledge the success of schools in literacy, numeracy and science. There are cash prizes for individuals and schools as well as the opportunity for individuals to undertake a professional learning opportunity.
The categories are:
Premier's Teacher of the Year - prize of $25,000;
WA Principal of the Year - prize of $25,000;
WA School Support Staff Member of the Year - prize of $25,000;
WA Literacy School of the Year (sponsored by Edith Cowan University) - prize of $15,000;
WA Numeracy School of the Year (sponsored by Teachers Credit Union) - prize of $15,000;
WA Science School of the Year (sponsored by ExxonMobil) - prize of $15,000.
